swallow is on a journey to join his friends for winter. he fails to go together with them because he falls in love with the Reed who then turns out not be worth his stay. when he passes by the statue of "the happy prince" , he decided to take a break. seeing the happy prince weeping for poor people he decided to be his messenger and give out bis precious ruby, sapphires and gold leaves to needy ones. he also accompanies the happy prince and tells him stories for many days . however when he finishes all those tasks the weather has became so cold that he cannot take his flight back so he decided to be with happy prince and finally he died on the feet of the happy prince .
the swallow was very kind bird. he helped the happy prince without thinking bit about himself. he helped the prince to spread happiness everywhere in the city . he stayed with the happy prince till his last breath.
