Dear mates here is your answer

️Aerobic oxidation is the process by which the metabolism of sugars and fatty acids take place in the presence of oxygen to produce energy giving ATP. Looking at the reaction of oxidation of glucose (image attached) we see that glucose is oxidised in the presence of oxygen.️

To understand this, first we must know what oxidation is.

Oxidation is the process of gain of oxygen to a compound due to which its chemical composition changes. It may also be defined as the loss of hydrogen atoms or loss of electrons. An oxidizing agent is necessary to bring about this change

This oxidation process maybe aerobic or anaerobic.

Aerobic oxidation is the process by which the metabolism of sugars and fatty acids take place in the presence of oxygen to produce energy giving ATP.

Looking at the reaction of oxidation of glucose we see that glucose is oxidised in the presence of oxygen.

Thus, oxygen is necessary for the complete oxidation of glucose because it is an aerobic reactionand because oxygen is the oxidizing agent.

Hope this helps you

Have a nice day :)
