The hormone calcitonin is secreted by the thyroid gland whereas parathonin is secreted by the parathyroid gland.

Calcitonin lowers the blood calcium level and calcifies bones. It deposits the calcium in the blood to the bone. Whereas parathonin increases the blood calcium level by demineralising bones.

The hormones calcitonin and calcitonin are antagonistic hormones. Another example of a antagonistic hormone is insulin and glucagon .
