\textbf{Glandular epithelium :}

When some epithelial cells become specialized for secretion, then tgey form glandular epithelium.

Cells in Glandular epithelium are cuboidal or columnar in shape.

◾ On the basis of number of cells it can be classified into two parts :

Unicellular gland and Multicellular gland.

UNICELLULAR : Single isolated cell work as a gland. Eg : Goblet cells.

MULTICELLULAR : Cluster of cells acts as a gland. Eg : Gastric gland, Salivary gland etc.

◾ On the basis of mode of secretion it can be classified into three parts :

Endocrine, Exocrine and Heterocrine.

ENDOCRINE : They are duct less glands and pour their secretion directly into blood stream. Eg : Pituitary gland Adrenal gland etc.

EXOCRINE : They are ducted glands and release their secretion through their ducts. Eg : Intestinal gland.

HETEROCRINE : They have both part exocrine and endocrine. Eg : Pancreas, Gonads etc.
