Question:

Read the extract and answer the questions:

The animals organized a school to help their children deal with the problems of the new world. And to make it easier to administer the curriculum of running, climbing, swimming and flying, they decided that all their children would take all the subjects. This produced some interesting issues. The duck was excellent in swimming but relatively poor in running, so he devoted himself to improving his running through extra practice. Eventually, his webbed feet got so badly worn that he dropped to only average in swimming. But average was acceptable in this school so nobody worried about that, except the duck.

The rabbit had a nervous breakdown because the other animals said she looked like a rat when she jumped in the water for swimming class and all her hair got matted down.

In the climbing class, the eagle beat all the others to the top of the tree, but kept insisting on using his own method of getting there. This was unacceptable, so the eagle was severely disciplined.

At the end of the year, an abnormal eel that could swim exceeding well and also run, climb, and fly a little had the highest average and was valedictorian.

The prairie dogs stayed out of school and fought the tax levy because the administration would not add digging and burrowing to the curriculum. They apprenticed their children to a badger and later joined the groundhogs and gophers to start a successful private school.

State whether the following statements are true or false.

1. The eagle received the highest grades in all the curriculum's activities.

2. To meet the challenges of a new world, the prairie dogs agreed to admit in the animal school.

Answer:

  1. False
  2. False
  3. False
  4. False

Explanation:

  1. In the climbing class, the eagle beat everyone else to the top of the tree, but still insisted on using his own method to get there. This was not accepted, so the eagle was rigorously reprimanded.
  2. Prairie dogs left school to fight tax collection because the administration did not want to include digging in the curriculum. They educated their children under badgers and later joined Marmot and Ground Squirrel to make their private school a success.
  3. Animals have organized schools to help  children deal with the problems of the new world. They also decided to take all subjects to make it easier to manage the  running, climbing, swimming and flying curriculum. So everyone had to take all the subjects.
  4. The ducks were good at swimming, but relatively poor at walking, so they focused on improving their walking style with additional training. After all, his webbed legs were so  worn that he was just the average swimmer. However, the average was acceptable at this school, so no one was worried  except the ducks.
