IT HAS been documented that globalisation, wherever adopted, has caused regime transformation - transformation of the economies from command economy to market economy. This transformation is more pronounced in the former Soviet Union and East European countries and to some extent in China, South Asia and South-East Asia where there is a clear move towards market-oriented economic regimes. Many scholars have documented the impact of such regime transformation on the economy in general and the common man in particular. But a similar systematic effort has not been made to capture the impact of globalisation.
