Glucose molecules are directly absorbed in our body where starch molecules are first digested and then absorbed in our body
Explanation:
- glucose molecule is a monosaccharide where starch molecule is a polysaccharide
- as glucose is a monosaccharide or simple sugar, it consist of single unit. so there is no need of further digestion. it is directly absorbed in our body
- starch is polysaccharide i.e. consist of multiple glucose units which are joined by glycosidic bonds. starch is also known as branching sugar or complex sugar. therefore at first, glycosidic bond have to be broken to release the each glucose unit, the simplest form of sugar and then it is absorbed in our body.
- therefore glucose molecules need not digestion but starch molecules need digestion.
