Although it is common to worship Goddess Lakshmi during Diwali, it is not so in all parts of India.
In eastern India and north-eastern India like West Bengal, Odisha etc., Goddess Kali is worshipped on Diwali. It is called a Kali Puja. This ritual is also called as Shyama Puja or Mahanisha Puja.
In Guwahati, Goddess Kamakhya is worshipped during Diwali.
