Gold is a very precious metal. Pure gold is very soft it is therefore not suitable for making jewellery. It is alloyed with either Silver or Copper to make it hard. But sometimes jewellers mix a large quantity of copper and Silver in gold to earn more profit.

Q-i. What precautions should you take while purchasing gold jewellery?

Answer:

If you want to buy gold for investment purpose then definitely go for ETF then jewellery.

But if you really want to buy jewellery then foremost thing you should consider is that it must contain isi hallmark.Along with hallmark it has numbers like : 875,931 etc..specifying purity.

Like 875 is for 87.5% purity and 931 is for 93.1% purity.

Check the calculations how your jeweller is calculating your total bill.

Price of gold should be properly reduced according to gold purity.

Example:

If you are buying 10 grams gold of is I 931 then its price should be

(93.1% of current gold rate) = x

Final price will be ..

(100+making charges)*x
