Hey there !!!!

Gold number is used to compare the protective powers of lyophillic colloids.

Gold number is the no.of milligrams of the protective colloid required just to prevent the coagulation of 10ml of gold sol when 1 ml of 10% of NaCl is added to it.

Lower the gold number more is the protective nature of colloid.

Gelatin has the lowest gold number (0.005 -0.1)
