Given;

sample = 1g

thus 90% of the sample =

  • 90/100 × 1
  • 9/10 = 0.9g

thus moles of gold;

  • n = W/M
  • n = 9/10×197
  • n = 1/10×0.04
  • n = 100/10×4
  • n = 2.5 moles

let NA = 6 × 10²³ fir approximate value

Thus number of atoms N is given by ;

  • N = n×NA
  • N = 2.5 × 6 × 10²³
  • N = 15 × 10²³ atoms
