Jumman Shiekh is a learned man. He is widely respected in the village for his ability to draft a petition and to draw a deed. Owing to a very strict upbringing by his father,he became a scholar and had many friends. But he behaves selfishly with his old aunt. Earlier he has been doting on her but after registration his tone changed. He makes it abundantly clear that he doesn't care that she lives or dies.He was also a smug thinking that Panchayat couldn't harm him.He became a sworn enemy of Alagu and revenge becomes the principal of his heart. However,at the end he realised that Alagu wasn't wrong.He felt that God lives in the Panch.
