No.

I think that it’s the complete opposite.

Think about it. If you have straight A’s in every class, does that mean you’re a genius, that you’re some sort of prodigy? Or does that mean that you do the work you’re assigned in every class well.

Does it mean you’re the next generation of inventors, that you can create new things, solve problems? Or does it mean that you’re going to be an office drone who’s just exceptionally good at doing assigned work?

If someone gets straight A’s, good for them. But that’s time they’re not spending learning what they’re passionate about, time that’s wasted because people who don’t like math won’t go into a math related field, and don’t need straight A’s in Calculus, they don’t need to spend 2 hours a day learning how do partial integration.

But if someone doesn’t get the best grades, but they teach themselves about the topic they’re passionate about, well, then they’re going to be the ones you see at the top. They’re the innovative, passionate creators, inventors, and artists that you’ll hear about in the future.

He got straight C’s, ended up becoming a successful entrepreneur.

By no means am I saying you shouldn’t get good grades, I’m just saying it shouldn’t be a priority. Don’t put so much time in subjects you don’t like, learn about what you love.
