Good management can lead to the success of a business based on the following management functions.
There are four management functions namely :
1.) Planning
-At this point the manager creates a detailed action plan aimed at some organizational goal.
- It is upon the manager to recognize which goals need to be planned within his or her individual managerial area.
- Planning is a process that is ongoing which can be specialized based on organizational goals, departmental goals and divisional goals.
- Planning enables the manager to set goals and be informed of what he needs to achieve as a manager with the help of her employees.
2.) Organizing
- At this point the manager determines how he or she will distribute the available resources and organize his or her employees to carry out the laid plan.
- The Manger identifies the different roles and assigns the appropriate amount of employees to carry out her plans.
- The manager then delegates authority, assigns work and provides direction on what needs to be done.
- Thus sets the working moving and thus the employees know what is required of them.
3.) Leading
- It involves connecting with the employees at a personal level.
- It involves communicating, motivating, inspiring and encouraging employees towards a higher level of productivity.
- It is beyond giving instructions and orders.
- When you are a manager and not a leader it means the employees will do what you say simply because they have to do it since it is their responsibility.
- However when you are a leader an employee will voluntarily follow the direction given by you simply because they are inspired by who you are and what you stand for.
- This puts a determination in each one of them and thus higher goals are achieved.
4.) Controlling
- These are processes created by managers to manage the success achieved by the team.
- Managers at this level are required to establish performance standards, measure the actual performance and compare the metrics to identify anomalies.
- At this level the mangers can check whether the actions in place are bearing fruits and see whether some improvement needs to be done.
