"Good manners are waste of time in the modern world." I would be against this statement because in this present world in order to lead a social life good manners are necessary. Good manners earn a person self respect and dignity. Good manners are not inherited since birth, it has to be learnt. Good manners determine not only the present worth of the person but also his future greatness. Good manners distinguish a civilized person from a beast of society.
In fact, good manners not only mean to be humble or helping others but is also speaks about yourself, how you behave with others, the way how you conduct and express yourself to your friends as well as strangers. Good manners also present what kind of family or background you belong to because children always imitate the behaviour of their parents. So there is no gift a parent can give to his/her child better than good manners.
In every aspect of life, we need good manners. Even if we have to clear any competitive exams - good manners play a vital role there. A shopkeeper who is not courteous soon loses his customers. A singer or superstars who is not courteous will soon become unpopular amongst his fans. If a teacher wants dignity from students he/she must be polite with students. A man of good manners is like a diamond but a rude man is just coal in the eyes of society.
Good manners will open doors that the best education cannot. Good manners cannot be learnt from books. They are learnt from society you live in. Cultivation of these manners will surely win you respect. Respect is earned not given, so you must treat people like the way you want them to treat you and talk to people the way you want to be talked to.
