1.spherical mirror is a hollow sphere with one of its polished curved surface and another curved surface acts as reflecting surface.

2.concave mirror is a spherical mirror with its inner surface as reflecting surface and outer as polished surface.

3 convex mirror is a spherical mirror with its inner surface is polished and outer as reflecting surface.

4.image formed on plane mirror are:

•real

•erect

•image is not formed at back of mirror

Answer:

1) A mirror whose reflecting surface is a part of a hollow sphere of glass is called a spherical mirror.

2) A spherical mirror which has reflecting surface towards the center of the sphere of which mirror is a part is called concave mirror

3)A spherical mirror which has reflecting surface away from the center of the sphere of which mirror is a part is called convex mirror.

4)Following are some characteristics of image formed by plane mirror:-

  • image is laterally inverted
  • it is virtual and erect
  • size of image is equal to size of object
  • Distance of image is equal to distance of object
  • Image can't be obtained on screen
