Good morning peeepsss.... Justify the Title of the poem "The Cold Within".
Answers
Answer:the title of the poem is simple , apt and suggestive . In the last stanza the poet himself explains it . The coldness we carry in our heart is dangerous and fatal. It prevents us from reaching out to others , from helping ourselves and others . It makes us lead a sinful life . The appropriateness of the title comes through the tragic end of the six people who hold onto their stick and let the life saving fire go out in the deadly cold outside . This shows that the people held grimly on to selfishness, prejudice and malice which was the cold within them, leading them to death

Answer:
The title of the poem The Cold Within is symbolic of lack of warmth and compassion in human beings. Six humans are caught against their will in "bleak and bitter cold", but none of them uses the wooden stick each one has, due to racism, envy, arrogance, revenge and greed. They are so cold from inside that they do not realise that by not helping others, they themselves will perish.
It is ironical and sad that these six people sitting together in a group are "forlorn". Their cold heartedness invites death in the end and they die with their logs held tight in their hands. Thus the title is appropriate as they die or not from the cold outside but from "the cold within".
