Firstly, what's population explosion ?
A sudden increase in the population of a country or a place is called as population explosion.
True. Population explosion is one of the major problems faced in India. Here are few causes for growth in population:
- Poverty : There is a lot of poverty in our country, India. Poor kids aren't educated, they get into little jobs, and marry soon, and there is no birth control.
- Child Labor : Child labor is not abolished completely in our country. A recent survey says that there are more than 150 million kids all over the world who are working as labors. Children who begin work too young also lose the educational opportunities they should be granted, particularly when it comes to birth control.
- Immigration : People from other countries come and settle in India. Newly married couples also come to India to live their life here. This is one reason for increase of population.
In all the above cases, we've seen that the main reason is birth control. People all over the world know how many kids they shall give birth to, but in India there's no birth control. The condition of villagers is worse. One gives birth to more than 10 people, i still don't understand what they achieve if they give birth to those many.
Government, in many ways is struggling to decrease the birth rate in our country.
• To get rid of this problem, Government has asked the people to reproduce for a particular limit.
Well i'd like to say that we shall take China as our role model. Why ? Because, you see, China is the country which has the largest population.
» Their government, instead of searching for the ways to decrease birth rate, it searched for solutions to make their people more useful to the country and to the whole world.
I think our government should pass few laws which will say about the limit of kids a family should have. Now, we can't change the past, right ? So better improve our future.
» Human is a resource. Who all know this ? Human is a resource because humans have the skill, knowledge and the capacity to create new resources. So what did China do ? The Chinese government started educating each and every person in their country. The government started teaching everyone new and different skills. And, they succeeded in doing that.
» All over the world, now we could see "MADE IN CHINA'' products. Each and everyone is useful there, at present. Why ? Because they are educated, they've the skill and capacity to create new things.
» I strongly say that our government should do the same thing. It should educate each and every citizen, it should teach everyone new skills and new things, train everyone and should make India better country. Instead of finding ways to reduce this major problem, why can't we find ways to make this problem a solution for everything?
Also wanna share a fact - "Made in China stickers are actually made in Korea." xD
Here Is Your Ans ⤵
------------------
# The birth rate is still higher than the death rate. We have been successful in declining the death rates but the same cannot be said for birth rates
# The fertility rate due to the population policies and other measures has been falling but even then it is much higher compared to other countries
# Unemployment :- Generating employment for a huge population in a country like India is very difficult The number of illiterate persons increases every year Unemployment rate is thus showing an increasing trend
# Manpower utilisation :- The number of jobless people is on the rise in India due to economic depression and slow business development and expansion activities
# Pressure on infrastructure :- Development of infrastructural facilities is unfortunately not keeping pace with the growth of population The result is lack of transportation , communication, housing , education , healthcare etc There has been an increase in the number of slums , overcrowded houses , traffic congestion Etc
# Resource utilisation :- Land areas , water resources , forests are over exploited There is also scarcity of resources
# Decreased production and increased costs :- Food production and distribution have not been able to catch up with the increasing population and hence the costs of production have increased. Inflation is the major consequence of over population
# Inequitable income distribution :- In the face of an increasing population , there is an unequal distribution of income and inequalities within the country widen
# Education :-
People , particularly those in reproductive age group , should be educated about the advantages of a small family and ill effects of large families and overpopulation In this , mass media like radio , television , newspapers , magazines , posters etc and educational institutions can play important role
Government should provide free and compulsory primary education to the children below the age of 14 years In China , there is a legislation making “basic primary education free, compulsory and universal.”
# Age of marriage should be raised :-
Demographers explain that postponement of female marriage age from 18 years to 20 or 22 years would bring down the birth rate by 20 to 30 per cent Even a year’s postponement in each age group will decrease total fertility rate much less than the present 2.68 per cent for the country But according to an ICMR report about 49 per cent women in India are married before the legal age of 18 years
# Family planning methods :-
India was the first country to adopt family planning (in 1951) as the government sponsored programme. But after the efforts of Indian government for about 50 years, birth rate in India has come down only slightly ( only from 41.7 in 1951 to 28.3 in 1997 per 1,000 per year ) This showed that voluntary family planning programme was not very successful
In 1976 , Indian government thought of introducing a programme of compulsory sterilization which required one parent to undergo sterilization after a couple had produced two children But due to public resistance , this programme was again changed to voluntary programme
India’s goal of two children per woman seems to be more difficult Most of the countries stress for zero population growth by bringing down the population growth rate to replacement rate ( average number of children per couple which will just replace parents )
Family planning programmes are not much successful in developing countries but highly successful in developed countries even without any government support In India , the slogan of Family Planning Programme is “Hum Do Hamare Do” but many couples, mostly the young , urban and working one have adopted even “one child norm”
