Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty:- In short we generally write it as P.T.C.A. It is a technique by which coronary arteries are blocy that have atherosclerotic plaque. Then a balloon catheter is inserted into an artery of the arm & gently guided through the arterial system under X-ray observation artery. Then, While dye is being released, angiograrns are taken to localise the plaques. Now, the catheter is advanced to the point of stress and a balloon-like device is inflated with air to squash the plaques against the blood vessel wall, after clearing the channel for the blood even in those cases where it had previously been partially blocked.
