Answer:

EXTENT OF THE CIVILISATION

The Harappan Civilisation was not confined to the two sites of Harappa and Mohenjo-daro

alone. It extended to various other sites in he

northwestern area of the Indian subcontinent. The influence of this culture extended to Punjab, Sind, the NorthWest Frontier Province, Baluchistan,Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and some parts of South India as well.

It was believed that this civilisation spread over an area of about 1600 kilometres from west to east and 1100 kilometres from north to south. But recent excavations in Gujarat have shown that the extent of the civilisation was much more than what had been thought earlier. Research scholars are of the opinion now that this civilisation spread over an area of 11,300,000 square kilometres, which is more than that of any other known ancient civilisation.
