"Good words are worth much and cost little."
Good words are not something that are expensive and telling a few good words won't cost anything too. So why not use it!? This seems like a fact but many people find it difficult, or let's say, do not bother to use good words.
There are many reasons for this - some people might be envious or jealous of others' achievements and some people don't even bother about praising and even if some one does do... they would be thinking about some other personal achievements they would be trying to get on their own.
But then... people who praise sincerely - like your best friend praising you or when a young kid looks up at you with a glow in his eyes for something you helped him out and giving you a big thank you for helping... they are pure words of praise - words said sincerely with no sort of ill intentions.
And yes, you must think about the reaction from the receiver's side too! Do you know how glad he or she would become!? The feeling when someone says good about you, it makes your heart fill with joy and one simple good word is very much enough to make a gloomy day a bright one.
We all must try to praise those who have achieved feats sincerely with hardwork. There is no loss in saying a few good words and saying those will make both you and the one you praise make happy.
Here is a story that took place in my life where this quote played an important role (not quite a blessing in disguise though) :
This incident took place when I was in class 5. There used to be a kid in my class who was quite conservative in nature, never taking part in any of the fun the others had. She was always engrossed in doing one thing or the other, mostly making crafts. No one used to take much notice of her and she lead her own way. I was always amused by her amazing artistic skills and awed by her creations which I saw at various times.
During a games period, I was feeling quite tired so I quit playing and went to class. I saw her sitting there, bent over her desk. She was not making any crafts as she usually did. I went and asked why she was not making anything and she looked at me surprised that I nearly thought her eyes would pop out. After a few moments of silence, she asked whether it mattered because no one ever said anything nice about them.
That was when I realized how important a few good words meant to others. I told her that her art works were amazing and that she was a skilled craftsman. I explained all the good qualities I saw in each piece of her work and she was astonished to know that I used to notice such details in her work.
She then told me that she was about to quit her crafts because no one ever cared about what she did. I was really shocked and told her that she had excellent skills that must be nurtured. Those few good words, which I felt were just simple words, made a huge difference in someone else's life!
And what's more? She was once awarded for her excellent craft skills in class 7 and she still displays her creations in district-level exhibitions.
