Roma dr 2,000 (step4> remaining 2000 out of 4000 yet to be paid)

cash ac dr 1,880 (step3> 4000 had to be paid, half paid immediately which is 2000. and immediate payment means cash discount. so 2000- cash discount ie, 120 = 1880)

discount allowed ac dr 120 ( step 2> 3% of 4000)

To sales account 4,000 (step 1> ie, 5000 less trade discount; 20%)

(being goods sold to Roma with 3% discount allowed; half payment received immediately.)
