Given :- Gopi gave 30% of money he had to his parents, 15% of the remaining money to each of his two children, one-third of the money now left was spent for his personal expenses and the remaining money Rs.9800 was deposited in the bank. How much money did gopi have initially ?
A) Rs. 40000
B) Rs. 30000
C) Rs. 42000
D) Rs. 32000
Solution :-
Let us assume that, total money gopi initially had Rs.100x .
Than,
→ 30% he gave to his parents = 30% of 100x = (100x * 30)/100 = Rs.30x .
Now,
→ money left to gopi = 100x - 30x = Rs.70x .
again
→ 15% of remaining money he gave to each of his two children = 15% of 70x = (15 * 70x)/100 = Rs.10.5x
So,
→ Total money he gave to both children = 10.5 * 2 = Rs.21x .
Than,
→ Money left to gopi now = 70x - 21x = Rs.49x .
again
→ (1/3)rd of left money was spent on personal expenses = (1/3) of 49x = Rs.(49x/3)
Than,
→ money left to gopi = 49x - (49x/3) = Rs.(98x/3)
given that, remaining money was Rs.9800 that deposited in bank .
Therefore,
→ (98x/3) = 9800
→ 98x = 9800 * 3
dividing both sides by 98,
→ x = 100 * 3
→ x = 300 .
Hence,
→ Total money = 100x = 100 * 300 = Rs.30,000 (Option B) (Ans.)
∴ Gopi initially have Rs.30,000 with him.
