Gosaipur and Majauli are two villages in Bihar. Out of a total 850 households in the two villages, there are more than 250 men who are employed in rural Punjab and Haryana or in Delhi, Hyderabad, Surat, Mumbai or Nagpur. Such a migration is common in most villages across in India. Why do people migrate? Can u describe based on ur imagination the work that the migrants of Gosaipur and Majauli might do at the place of destination?

Labour being the most important factor of production , it would be ideal if new ways of farming used much more labours infortunately such a thing has not happened. The use of labour on farms is limited. The labour, looking for opportunities is thus migrating to neighbouring villages different towns, cities, states as well. Some labourers have entered the non farm sectors .

By the nature of the origin of migration and destination of migration, the nature of the human resource can be derived. In this case, the rural labour force has migrated to another rural area. They are unskilled or semi skilled labourers who migrate for jobs. They would find jobs that do not need much of skills, like masonry, pulling rickshaw, selling vegetables etc.
