Censorship is done by the government to stop spreading faulty news to the public.

  • Censorship is done by the government to stop spreading false news in the media.
  • In India, Censorship is governed by the Central Board for film Certification (CBFC). This works under the control of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
  • It is the duty of the government to regulate the content that is shown in Television or Movies. But certainly, we do not have censorship for Television, Social and Digital media.
  • As per the Information technology act 2000, it is a punishable offence to spread false news or spread anything which stops the growth of the nation.

Therefore, Censorship is used as a tool to restrict the content creators to make content which affects the society a lot.
