Gram equilant weight is defined as: “The mass of a substance especially in grams that combines with or is chemically equivalentto eight grams of oxygen or one gram of hydrogen :the atomic or molecular weight divided by the valence”.

Ferrous sulphate is found in three forms in nature and there respective weight are as follows:

Ferrous sulphate (hydrated) {Green vitriol}......FeSO 4. 7H 2O......M.W./1 = 278.00 Ferrous sulphate (anhydrous)..........FeSO 4......M.W./1 = 152.00 Ferrous ammonium sulphate (Mohr's salt).....FeSO 4. (NH 4) 2SO 4.....M.W./1 = 392.14
