Grand Dhwaj pillar was built at vidisha (near modern Besnagar) in central India.

Explanation:

The Grand Dhwaj pillar is also known as Heliodorus pillar. The pillar is a stone column. It was built in second century BC, by a Greek ambassador Heliodorus. He was sent by Greek king Antialcidis to the court of Sungas. The Sunga king at that time was Bhagabhadra.

The inscriptions on the pillar were written in Brahmi Script. In the inscription Heliodorus declared himself as a resident of Taxila and also as a Bhagavata i.e, a devotee of Vasudeva. The inscriptions provide evidence to Vaishnavism and Krishna-vasudeva devotion in India. The pillar is located very close to the Buddhist stupa of sanchi. Vidisha is now located in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
