Answer:

Grandmother = 90yrs

Grandson = 15yrs

Step-by-step explanation:

1. (6*x) = (75+x)

Lets take her  grandson's age as "x", since we don't know its value

Then it says that his grandmother is 6 times older than him, so i formed the equation "(6*x)", that is 6 times his age

It also says that his grandmother is currently 75 yrs older than him, so i also formed the equation "(75+x)", that is whatever her grandson's age is her age is 75yrs more than that.

2. 6x = 75+x      *we can now find x using algebra*

   6x-x = 75       * X moved over to meets its like term

   5x = 75

   5x/5 = 75/5     *The 5s cancel out and leaves x single*

   x = 75/5

   x = 15

3. We've now found the age of her grandson and can find his grandmother's age using either of the equations

a. 6*15 = 90

b. 15+75 = 90

∴ The grandmother's age is 90 and her grandson's is 15.
