Answer:

Vernon Scannell (1922 - 2007) issued his poetry from the 1950s right up to the last year of his life but appears to be less well-known than he justifies He was a Voluntary Colleague of the Royal Society of Literature and was given a Civil List Pension for Amenities to Literature.

Herbert Lomas describes Scannell's technique as "life's little and big humor in polished stanzas and complex verse-forms". But Scannell also uses good blank verse and conceived forms, and, in his overview to a villanelle, talks carefully about the form in use. Other introductions converse the motivations, oblivion or visions to the poems. His reading voice matches the ironies of his poems, being rough and smooth at the same time, but always hospitable the listener into the involvement of the poem.
