Answer:

2x + y = 8 is the equation of a straight line. When this line crosses the x-axis the y-coordinate will be zero. By substituting y = 0 into the equation we will find the corresponding x-coordinate at this point.

y = 0 : 2x = 8 and so x = 4 hence point (4 , 0 ) on the x-axis .

Similarly, when the line crosses the y-axis the x-coordinate will be zero and by substituting x = 0 into the equation we will find the corresponding y-coordinate at this point.

x = 0 : y = 8 hence point (0 , 8 ) on the x-axis.
