Graphite rods are used as electrodes (cathode+ anode) in many reaction , because it conducts electricity and it is cheap , graphite is a allotropes of carbon , where 1 carbon atom is connected to other 3 carbon atoms , forming a layered hexagonal structure , one layer of graphite is called graphene and it is connected to other layers by a weak wan der wall force , hope this was helpful , please thank this answer and mark this as brainiest answer if you understood
