AB = t
AO = u
OP = t
BP = u
PC = v
BC = PC - PB = v - u
In graph,
Distance = Area under curve
S = Area of rectangle + area of triangle.
S = l × b + 1/2 × b × h
S = AO × AB + 1/2 × AB × BC
S = u × t + 1/2 × t × v-u - - - - - - (1)
From 1st eqⁿ of motion
v = u + at
v - u = at
Putting the value of v - u in eqⁿ (1)
S = ut + 1/2 × t × at
S = ut + 1/2 at²
Hence proved.
