Graphite and diamond both are allotropes of carbon still graphite acts as a lubricant and is a good conductor of electricity but diamond is hard and does not conduct electricity

well chemical properties of graphite and diamond are different graphite has free electrons hence it conducts electricity while diamond is hard because of specific arrangement of carbon atoms and it don't conducts electricity because its quite stable allotrope of carbon I mean it don't have free electrons.
