Graphite and diamond both are allotropes of carbon still graphite act as a lubricant and is a good conductor of electricity but diamond is hard and does not conduct electricity

Graphite conducts electricity, due to delocalization of the pi bond electrons above and below the planes of thecarbon atoms. These electrons are free to move, so are able to conduct electricity. However, the electricity is only conducted along the plane of the layers.
