graphite and diamond both are allotropes of carbon, still graphite acts as a lubricant and is a good conductor of electricity, but diamond is hard and does not conduct electricty.

because of their internal structural composition

Hi guys!

Graphite and diamond have different structure thats why they are totally different in properties even though both contain C atoms only.

Diamond has all its C atoms bonded and a rigid structure while graphite has a loosely bound C atom which makes it conduct electricity as this loosely bound C atom has free electrons to carry current.

Moreover graphite has a hexagonal strucutre forming layers on top of the other which makes it a good lubricant.
