Graphite is a soft lubricant and a good conductor of electricity because their electrons are delocalised and free to move. These free electrons make graphite a good conductor of electricity.
It consist of soley of carbon atoms.

the different layers of carbon atoms in graphite can slide over one another henci it is soft.
graphite has hexagonal arranngement of atms.hence each c atom is bonded to 3 diff c atoms. this leaves 1 electron in each c atom as unbonded as the valency of 4 is not satisfied. this free electron of each c atom is responsible for its conducting nature.
