Given :

  • Mass of one object = 10 kg
  • Mass of another object = 15 kg
  • Gravitational force between the two objects = 8 × 10⁻⁸ N
  • Gravitational constant = 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ m³ kg⁻¹ s⁻²

To Find :

  • The separation between the two objects = ?

Solution :

By using newton's law we get :

  • F = (Gm₁m₂)/d²

Where,

  • F = Gravitational force between the two objects
  • m₁ = Mass of one object
  • m₂ = Mass of another object
  • d = The separation between the two objects
  • G = Gravitational constant

Now,substitue the given values in above formula :

→ F = (Gm₁m₂)/d²

→ 8 × 10⁻⁸ = (6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ × 10 × 15)/d²

→ 8 × 10⁻⁸ = (6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ × 150)/d²

→ d² = (6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ × 150)/ 8 × 10⁻⁸

→ d² = (6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ × 10⁺⁸ × 150)/8

→ d² = (6.67 × 10⁻³ × 150)/8

→ d² = (0.00667 × 150)/8

→ d² = (1.0005)/8

→ d² = 0.125

→ d = √0.35

d = 0.35 m

  • Hence, the separation between the two objects is 0.35 m.
