Answer:-

Given:

Gravitational force between two objects = 320 N.

We know that,

Gravitational force (F) = GMm/r²

Where,

  • G is gravitational constant

  • M is mass of 1st body

  • m is mass of 2nd body

  • r is the Distance between them

According to the question,

GMm/r² = 320 N -- equation (1)

We have to find the gravitational force when the distance between them becomes 4 times.

Original distance between them = r

New distance = 4 * r = 4r.

Now,

New gravitational force = GMm/(4r)²

→ New gravitational force = GMm/16r²

→ New gravitational force = 1/16 * GMm/r²

Putting the value of GMm/ from equation (1) we get,

→ New gravitational force = 1/16 * 320

→ New gravitational force = 20 N

Therefore, the gravitational force between them decreases to 20 N when the distance between them becomes 4 times.
