Given:   Integers   -7 and 4

To Find : The greatest negative integer lying between -7 and 4

Solution:

1 , 2 , 3 , ...  are positive integers

0 is neither positive nor negative

..., - 3 , - 2 , - 1   are negative integers

integers lying between -7 and 4

are -6 , -5 , - 4 , - 3 , - 2 , - 1 , 0  , 1 , 2  , 3

Negative integers in these are :

-6 , -5 , - 4 , - 3 , - 2 , - 1

These are in ascending order

Hence -1 is the greatest negative integer

As number  on number lines

Numbers with a negative sign are less than zero

Right of zero represented by ‘+’ sign and to the left of zero represented by ‘–’ sign.

+ sign numbers can be denoted as simply numbers

On a number line the number increases as we move to the right and decreases as we move to the left.

And all negative integers are on the left side of - 1

Hence -1 is the greatest negative integer

The greatest negative integer lying between -7 and 4 is  -1
