This is the corrosion of Copper in which the surface of copper is made in green colour. Actually copper reacts with moist carbon dioxide in air to form copper carbonate and as a result copper loses its shiny brown surface forming a green layer of copper carbonate. We can clean this by using lemon or tamarind juice as it contains citric acid which neutralizes the basic copper carbonate and dissolves the layer.
