Answer:

A true scientist always works for the betterment of the people. He does something useful for mankind by making new discoveries and inventions. He never indulges in harmful or destructive activities. Griffin cannot be called a true scientist because he has a criminal bent of mind. He sets a house on fire, loots a shopkeeper and steals cash from clergyman's desk. So he is more of a thief or a robber. He may be a brilliant scientist but not a good human being. He could have put his discovery to some better use. Though he has made a wonderful discovery, he fails to serve mankind with it.

Hope this helps

A brilliant scientist though he was, Griffin was a lawless man. He burnt the house of his landlord because his landlord disliked him and tried to eject him.

Griffin in later journey also robbed many people and even attacked few too.

These show that griffin was a bad scientist. These incidents show that he is a very unkind and he was ruthless.

The value of welfare for all is very important for the very sustenance of this world itself. If man loss this quality and starts, thinking selfish, then the destruction is unpredictable. So this value is very important.
