Dr. Griffin is a fictional character, also known as The Invisible Man, who appears as the titular protagonist in H. G. Wells' 1897 science fiction novella The Invisible Man. In the original novel, Griffin is a scientist whose research in optics and experiments into changing the human body's refractive index to that of air results in his becoming invisible. The character has become iconic, particularly in horror fiction, and versions and variations have appeared throughout various media.

HI

Griffin was indubitably a brilliant scientist. He conducted many experiments to discover a wonder drug for making one invisible and he succeeded in his endeavour. But he was otherwise not a decent, honest or peace-loving person. He defied laws. He misused his discovery. He was vindictive. When the landlord wanted to eject him, he set fire to the house. He stole money from others and was dishonest too. He was violent and hit Mrs. Hall and Mr. Jaffers. He was thus, a lawless person with eccentric habits and an irksome temper, albeit he was an intelligent scientist.
