divide that resulting difference by 11, then it becomes (13-x)/11

 

Multiply the quotient by 8 then the expression becomes ( (13-x)/11)*8

 

the product comes to 8 then ((13-x)/11)*8=8 solve the equation divide

both sides by 8, then (13-x)/11 = 1 cross multiply 13-x=11 add -13 to both sides -13+13-x=11-13, -x=-2. x=2 Therefore the number is 2
