Ground water is safe to drink because it flows underground between the rocks and do not come in contact of viruses and bacterias but some time it may come in contact of pesticides and some bacterias it is also not totally safe

And come on river water see the range where you can see that river water , length of river you are able to see it is possible that 50 km away from your standing point anyone died in that river and the water that reaches to you will contains germs and bacteria whether it is flowing water or not

also untreated river water can contains bacteria and viruses you know becasue it come in contact of human and animals some people wash clothes in river water some animals dies in it while ground water is found between the rocks not in contact of humans and animals from such reasons
