the group of organisms that are capable of interbreeding and produce fertile offsprings are termed as a SPEICES

example: Panthera Tigris -( scientific name of tiger ) and Panthera leo- (scientific name of lion)

here tigris and leo are the specific epithet... i.e name of the species tiger(tigris) which can only interbreed among tigers and not with lion (leo) to give fertile offsprings....

hope it helps you....☺✌☺
