There is a gradual spoilage of tomato when kept aside for four days. The causes for such changes are:

1) Moisture is the cause of growth of microbes. Since, tomato has about 80 percent moisture and

2) a very mildly acidic pH, it is suitable for growth of many microbes,esp bacteria, like Azospirillum.

3) These bacteria and fungi generate polysaccharides that is visible to us as a film. This film enables microorganisms to survive properly by forming their colonies.
