=> 5 = √ (0-3)² + ( x-1)²
=> 25 = 9 + x² +1 -2x
=> x² - 2x -15 = 0
=> x² -5x +3x - 15 = 0 (please explain how is this line is formed)
=> x(x-5) +3(x-5) = 0
=> (x+3)(x-5) = 0

by doing factorisation,sum= -2and product= -15 thus,-5and3 as factor then x2+3x-5x-15

Shriny: Can you please be little more specific (step-by-step) --thank you very much for your help.
thomas71: x2-2x-15 factorisation method sum=-2andproduct= -15 we know that-5and 3 are added we get-2and when multiply we get-15 substitute-2x as-5 x+3x we getx2-5x 3x-15
Shriny: Thanks you sir!
