Question :

=> Explain with examples ;

1) atomic number

2) mass number

3) isotops

4) isobars

give any two uses of isotops ???

Answer :

➔ Atomic number is defined as the total no. of protons present in the nucleus of an atom.

➔ The mass number is defined as the sum of the total no. of protons and neutron present in the atoms.

➔ which have same atomic number but different in mass numbers it is called isotops

➔ Which have some mass number but different in atomic number it is called isobars.

Uses of isotops :

  • Uranium is used as a fuel in nuclear reators.
  • Iodine is used in the treatment of goiter

On The basis of his experiment he put forward the nuclear model of an atom :

  1. There is positively charge centre an atom is called nucleus mass of an atom resides in the nucleus
  2. The electrons revolved around nucleus in well define orbits.
  3. The size of the nucleus is very small as compared to the size of the atoms.

[ But in Rutherford model some drawbacks, he said that electron revolve around the nucleus in circular path but in science any particles accelerate it loss its energy and finally fall into the nucleus but it is not happen, so Rutherford's model rejected. ]
