  • A man Rs 49 in coins of denominations of Rs 10 of Rs 5 and Rs 1 . The ratio between Rs 10 coins and Rs 5 coins is 1:2 and total coins are 15 .How many coins of each denomination has the man ?

\qquad\qquad\underline{\textsf{\textbf{ \color{red}{Solution :-}  }}}

Suppose x, y and z are the coins of Rupees 10 , 5 and 1 respectively;

According to the statements :

➙ 10x+5y+1z = 49; eq. 1

➙ x+y+z = 15; eq. 2

➙ x/y = 1/2 or x = 0.5y;

Now putting x = 0.5y in eq. 1 and eq. 2;

➽ 10*0.5y+5y+1z = 49;

➽ 10y+1z = 49; A

➽ 0.5y+y+z = 15;

➽ 1.5y+z =15; B

now solving (A-B) both the equations we get :

➽ 8.5y = 34;

➽ y = 34/8.5;

➽ y = 4

➽ x = 0.5y = 2;

➨ x+y+z = 15;

➨ 2+4+z = 15;

➨ z = 15-6 = 9
