As a boy, he sold newspapers to earn and pay for his studies.
During his childhood days, there was no electricity in the town.
Due to this Kalam had to survive in kerosene lamps.
These lamps were lit with a span of two hours that of 7 pm to 9 pm.
But Kalam used to study till 11 PM and for that his mother used to save a little oil for him.
